Rydal Water Workshop
Explore the area that William Wordsworth once described as "the loveliest place man hath found".
Meeting Point: The lane beside St Mary's Church in Rydal.
Route: 3 miles with 165m of ascent
The route leads from the church, over the main road and through Steps End Wood up to Rydal Caves, passing the boathouse along the way.
The 'caves' are actually an abandoned slate quarry carved into the side of Loughrigg Fell. There is huge potential for a photograph here, and enough to challenge even the most experienced photographer.
From there the route leads to White Moss at the western end of the lake. It then follows the A591 back to the start point, calling in at the lone tree along the way.
Before departing there will be the opportunity to visit the grotto and waterfalls at Rydal Hall.
